After extensive research of taxidermy process, I have been approaching a variety of inanimate objects following the steps taken in skinning, mounting, and presenting trophy game and animal skin rugs. In my series of Chair Skin Rugs, the pelt of the chair is removed and lain out on the floor. This hide is then hand-stitched to a layer of felt and finally sewn to gabardine backing. The work is presented within the context reserved for trophy game, as a souvenir of past achievement.
